Whats the difference with ballistic capsule and conical capsule? As the short time goals descriptions makes me have to guess what hardware and type of mission it describes. Maybee it because of me having Swedish as my first language and conical especially is new to me in this form and use.[&:]
In the Mercury program there is both Redstone and Atlas booster and short term dont tell me what type of booster it is.

I agree that the goal descriptions need to be a little more detailed.

With the current missions, I don't believe there is a difference - both terms are used interchangeably. "Conical" means "cone-shaped", which is a pretty accurate description of the Mercury and Gemini capsules.

And now for the reason for conical versus ballistic - it allows for "spherical" capsules (i.e. Russian designs), so that certain goals can influence both sides (ballistic) and others can influence one or the other.
