I more or less fullfilled the short time goals given and by 73 got more than double prestigue needed and 2 third of my crew was top notch education wize. The last third was newly hired personell, hired to cover the increasing demands of at least mission control guys. I could have succeded an attempt any way for a lunar landing but failed money wize.I thought I got lotst of money oaround 65 so I upgraded all available buildings to top lvl just to see how good they looked. And they looked awsome [:D]. But as the Apollo program was so expensive I couldnt start it. And the Gemeni parts was costing for each part. I should have remembered that but I didnt.
No glitches encountered and only frustration (sort of) was that I coulndt find a way to go back to mission list. So still exit out and then back to Mission complex is easiest.
Next time I will makes it. [8D]

We have increased the budget but still very fair to afford certain joys. Especially in the critical period with the Apollo missions.
It would be interesting if someone confess if he made it to the moon in the campaign before 1974, I have not got, always one or two years left me.

Cost of Apollo

The Apollo program does have a very high startup cost of over $17000, which is extremely difficult to raise in the mid 60's.

Perhaps there could be an option for an additional program category for Earth, "Three Crew Ballistic Capsules". This category could contain an "Apollo Orbital" project, which would contain just the Saturn 1B and the Apollo Spacecraft, with a reduced Program Opening Cost.

The cost of the existing "Project Apollo" under "Short Duration Lunar Expeditions" would then be reduced accordingly if the"Apollo Orbital" project had been previously opened.

This would give the player a chance to start research on at least some of the Apollo hardware by the mid 60's.

Same opinion here. But this is not "extremely difficult" it's impossible.[:D]
