All of the games on the lists were nominated by readers throughout the year.
Several games from Matrix are nominated

It's not exactly drowning in votes, though. It probably would have been if it had been rather better.
Rather more worrying is that someone nominated (and 8% have voted for) Space Hulk as digital wargame of the year. I can only assume none of them bought anything else. Which is really the problem with that sort of poll; nobody has bought everything, or even close to everything, and just tend to vote for a favorite from those they did buy.
Really, really, pleased to see Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm doing so well, though. Certainly my choice for digital wargame. It's just silly comparing it against my other overall favorites there, Spelunky and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

We collect the nominations for the readership throughout the year. Even if just 1 person nominates a game, we include it, as the whole point of the poll is that it's the
Readers' choice, not ours.
If it's a total dog, then it won't garner any votes in the poll. If it rocks, it will. We have faith in the process

Has anyone here played The Hunters board game? Looks really cool and is clearly very popular.
Edit:
Wow, after watching this I must have it. The guy calls it the Das Boot of board games. Just look at all the cool little details! And the ships you sink are from a list of ships actually sunk, and you keep a written log of your career. I love it!
Edit 2: Ordered, can't wait.

It's a fun game! If you like solitaire games, I also recommend "Navajo Wars".

But, your poll became skewed when you allowed Rome 2 to even be on the list. How can a broken and flawed game get on any goty or game of a catagory list? Clearly this is a biased choice by the forum admin. You can SAY anything you like about how it's a readers choice but everything someone says isn't always true. Another fanboy poll basically.

C'mon.[8|] The guy explained clearly enough; if one member nominates it, it gets listed. Seems fair enough to me, and I don't see where any 'bias' comes in - quite the opposite. You get bias when someone starts deciding what should or should not be included based on their (or other people's) opinions of what is 'broken' or 'flawed'.
It's not a board I frequent, but the votes for
Command and
Red Storm certainly suggest the members know their wargames.

I'm with this guy.
Just another fanboi poll paid for by the big corporations like SEGA and you know who.
Should have called it the Crackheads Readers Choice poll.

It looks great. As a player who left board games long ago. This one looks
manageable. You could easily put it on a small table. Many board games designed
for 2 or more players Often times end up with both sides being played by a
single player. I still would not mind seeing this in a computer game

Hey - if you know a way to get some money out of Sega, or anyone else, please share. We could use a few bucks!

What the hell does it matter that Rome 2 got nominated? It's not like these are the Oscars where the nominations themselves are supposed to be filtered - if the noms are all user-submitted, then it's pretty clear that it got there because some people have terrible taste. Save your righteous outrage for when it actually wins (spoiler alert: it won't)

See what I mean by skewed. Only a fanboy would grin like that because it's winning. Skewed poll. Makes no nevermind people will see Metacritic a lot more than that skewed poll. Who's winning that user poll of 3.9 there? [:D]
Until they can find and make a way a user can only cast
one vote all polls online are skewed. Even Metacritics because I'm sure some deranged yoyo (not mentioning any names) would make up several email addresses and vote 100 times on the same game just to get it to win some insignificant poll. Last thing I believe in is honesty on the internet.....yeah AOL is full of honest people isn't it? [:D]

I read that as he was taking the piss.
The game is turn based as well as real time.
I enjoy it from time to time (though I have been too busy to fire it up for some time due to the holidays). It was pretty broke when it came out - from what I gather it's not in a bad state at the moment.
Weather it should be winning in any poll isn't really up to me - but I personally wouldn't vote for it in that category
