Reduced blizzard effect

I currently play a GC as german and I'm reaching the blizzard with a good map (from my point of view).
SHC lost >3M men, >120 Inf Div and the front is running from Rostov, Voronezh, Ryazan, Kaluga, Kalinin to Ladoga (Leningrad has Fallen)
I have the temptation of a forward defence.
Did someone try it successfully?

Disgruntled Veteran I think recently came close to this with good results, especially north of the Oka.
The south is tougher to hold on to due to the open terrain.

You're right, but except South of Voronezh and near Rostov, russian Cv's are often 1 or sometimes 2.
So a german div Cv 6/8 with 36+ (4*4) + (2*4)= 60 % should be able to hold...
60 are 36+ defence + 2 levels forts

Did he make an AAR?

He did, it's the one versus A-Game. I think your chances are good based on his results.

I just played turn 26, 11 december 1941. 2nd turn of blizzard.
It's incredible! I'm able to counterattack successfully russian units in clear terrain.
Losses aren't impressive but it has notihng to see with my old expériences of blizzard.

As I am DV's opponent I have to say the new Blizzard rules, with .13 are a whole new ball game.
Good terrain plus forts can actually stop the soviets now, the south probably still requires some running early on but overall I think a 1st winter hold the line defense is totally viable in the north. I really, really like this optional rule as I always thought the old blizzard was way over the top.
The constant morale bleed when not in towns seems to be taking its toll on DV, as it seems he committed most of his forces to hold the line, not sure how much that will impact going into 42.

I'm now 18 december 1941 and I confirm that the lines holds firmly north of Kaluga.
On the southern part it dépends on the strength of SHC. I gave up Ryazan and Rostov but fights for Voronezh.
Much more interesting than the previous blizzard!

Just to better appreciate the situation, the front line before the mud

The fact that the front line is not a straight line like in most previous games makes me think that the game is really improving! The 42 Summer campaign looks pretty interesting.

Maybe I will post an AAR, even if the last one wasn't a succes!

The more results the merrier, really. Any data at all is good here as it's fresh. So far I'm pretty happy with what I'm seeing, though. This is really a much better iteration of the blizzard.
I might want to tweak the numbers a bit, but in principle this is looking good.
