I'd swear I remember seeing somewhere (this may have been back on the old forum) something about getting a to-hit bonus when you're standing on a hill, or, probably someting to do with relative height compared to your target.

Now, apparently, you don't actually get this bonus in 1.4

So where am I going with this? Two questions:
1) Am I right out nuts and this was never actually mentioned at all? Be it in one of the forums or in a previous Beta...whatever.

2) Odd of this being in WS? Doesn't it make sense at all?

I'm probably nuts, but it's bugging me.

You're not nuts, it was in the code before v1.4. +1% for small hills, ... +4% for mountains. Larkin removed it at some point.

Steel trap ya'll. Steel trap.

*thbbbbts at Hetzer*
Doubt me will you! I hope my melting Titan falls on you! ;)

Seriously though: any chance of that bonus reappearing? I like my strategies to actually work, here I've been perched on mountains like Snoopy on his doghouse all for nothing.

(steps daintily aside)

So I lied, tell you what, since I'm a fair and open and aboveboard sort of person, lets settle this the old fashioned way, Trial by Combat :p

The problem with those mods was they are set statically in the hex definition file. So you'd get +4 when on a mountain, regardless of the target's height. It makes no sense you having +4 if he is also on a mountain, right? So it'd have to be set dinamically in the battle module, checking height difference. I guess Larkin wasn't up to the trouble.
Anyways, it'd be more logical if it would affect (shift) the damage allocation table instead of giving a tohit bonus, or using the punch table if height difference was above a certain limit - much like in MC2, where you get more head hits when firing downhill.
But I think it is ok as it is. Height has a number of advantages that might not be perceptible, mainly related to LoS, FoW and HD.

there should be advantages AND disadvantages.
Imagine your on your hill, an opponent hits you.
Where would he hit you?
More likely in your torso or your head.
Since your on your hill, you're more visible and ennemies can see your from far away.

Not true. Why would he hit you more often in the head if he is firing uphill?!
And yes, being in high ground has the disadvantage of being seen (and targeted) by almost everyone.
