In FPC real tactic work the best. Here is an example of a Soviet attack.
This shows the idea was to lead with tanks, follow that up with an infantry attack and then back that by more tanks.
Works for me. [:D]
Good Hunting.

All we need now is the ability to air assault.

I try to stick to Soviet tactics as much as I can especially on the attack including trying to separate out and position some CRP's between the leading recon and main body, depending on scenario size of course.

I think it comes down to understanding the Red OOB and echelon doctrine.
A typical MRR will have an assault contingent (tanks plus BMPs) and an exploitation contingent (tanks plus BTRs)
Your first wave Battalion should look like this: Recon>Tanks>BMPs. The big question is when (and where) to dismount the infantry in the BMPs....too soon and the tanks outpace the grunts; too late and the infantry die in their IFV's.
Don't lead your assault with the BTR Batys. They aren't meant for a slogging match.
Maintain forward momentum and use Assault orders.
It helps to put yourself into the head-space of the Red Army: they think on two levels....Military Arts and Military Science.
