I installed the game from the DVD and download all the update until the latest of Jan 17th 2014. I tried to play a Global War scenario in solitaire mode and when I arrived at the end of 1939 turn when the new units of 1940 should be added to the force pool the game stops performing with a pop-up alert of error and cannot go on...[:(]

What's happened? What can I do to eliminate this bug?

Thanks for the ansers, I wait your solutions.[;)]

I had the same problem. A JAVA update popped up while I was playing and shortly thereafter I got the error message. I tried reloading from a couple of different save points and got the same thing. Rebooted the computer (WIN 7) and it works fine now.

I tried to reboot the PC (Win 8) but with no result.
I reinstalled again the game from the CD, reboot the PC: no result.
I tried to update the game from the game menu but it was impossible.
I downloaded the patch 1.07 from the Matrix site, install it, reboot the PC and tried again with no result.
I downloaded the update 1.10 from the Matrix site, install it, reboot the PC and tried again with no result... What can I do now?

Please help me [&o]

PS If someone explain me how to insert a saved file in this message I'll do it...

To download a game file, using Windows 7 (I hope Windows 8 is the same, but don't know.):

Find the saved game. If you use the defaults, it should be in C\Matrix Games\World in Flames\Scenarios\ScenarioName\Saved Games, where ScenarioName is the name of the scenario.

Right click on the game. You will get a menu. Click on "Send To". You will get another menu. Click on "Compressed (zipped) folder". This will give you a compressed version of your game, with extension .zip

In the forum, click on post reply, then click on "Click here to upload!"; that will bring up a window; click on browse. Find your file, and click on it, then post your message.

I'll do it and it works...!!![:D]

The other problems persist: the program cannot be able to update and now it cannot connect to the forum for searching opponents... Have you the same problem?

The update problem - Is the update program reporting a runtime error? If so you'll need to reinstall. Or at least reinstall these two: Update.exe and Update.dat. But if instead the update seems to operate but can't contact the server, then it's likely Firewall settings are too restrictive. If changing Firewall settings doesn't help, you can download the new version manually from here: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/296/downloads/

The NetPlay forum problem - either you have a pre-existing Slitherine username and password from a different game that you are not re-using (possibly from long enough ago you don't remember - in which case you need to contact the Help desk) OR your username and password in the NetPlayReg.txt file in the World in Flames folder do not match the username and password on the NetPlay server.
