Sub combat clarification

I'm pouring over the rules tonight, looking for small things I've missed and trying to get a better handle on some areas of the game where I am weakest. In the RAC sec 11.4.10, p. 60, it give an example of a submarine combat. In the example, Heinz is shown rolling dice against convoys, and needing to get 2 D results against a single convoy point in order to sink it. This seems to be in direct contradiction with RAC 11.5.8 (Convoys) on p. 58, which says that an X destroys 2 convoys, and a D destroys 1 convoy. The latter also jibes with my experience in the game, so I'm assuming that it's the example given in 11.5.10 that is incorrect?

The problem is that someone blindly copied WiF for 11.4.10, and that rule is without Ships in Flames, which is integral to MWiF. Without SiF, Convoy points came in blocks of five, and there were all kinds of rules dealing with this. SiF let you move single CPs, and was a great improvement. This bit of text was left over from pre-SiF, and should have been changed.

To clarify, the bit of text that should have been deleted was the example showing die rolls on convoys, correct?

Correct.
