Netplay 1.1.1 Port attack

Ok..using patch 1.1.1 on Netplay for a Global war game, port attack is still messed up.

Here is a screenshot. Bill and I only got to the first impulse and he used the German Nav unit to do a surprise port attack on the Polish ships. He had 12 surprise points and damaged the CA unit but then I couldn't assign damage to the convoy that was present. Note in the screenshot that my screen indicates a US phase and that the OK Done button is greyed out.

We tried this a second time and we got into loop with the US Entry chit phase after Germany declared war on Poland. The entry box kept coming up again and again and again. I had to use ctrl-alt-del to exit the game. This is the first time we ran into this problem. This is getting pretty depressing.

We did this a third time and skipped past the ist impulse and went to the British phase in order to do a port surprise attack by the Brits. I rolled a 1 for surprise and had 4 surprise points on Kiel. I put 2 on reducing AA but it didn't do much good. As soon as the AA screen popped up indicating I had 3 points of damage on my air units to assign, I selected one unit and Bill got a crash pop-up on his screen. We've had this happen a few patches ago with the same problem. So surprise port attack is still pretty fubar'ed.

This bug has been reproduced over and over again.

No idea why it is still broken. I've pretty much given up on the game.

Can't play, except with myself, and boy that is fun at my age. [>:]

This has not been sorted yet. Same thing happens in Barborossa Scenario if you port attack Lennigrad. It does not allow the second player to assign losses and the first player can do nothing either. Is there a work around other than not doing a port attack in netplay?

Maybe if you configure the die rolls and resulting surprise shifts so the attacker picks all the targets? I thought of trying this but haven't had time yet.

There's more issues than just not being able to assign targets by the defender. There are issues at times in Neplay with AA fire that cause the game to crash when trying to assign damage to attacking bombers.

It's not a desirable situation but if the question is: Is there a workaround for port attacking in NetPlay versus not port attacking at all? - then I guess you'd also have to have enough surprise to negate the AA. Usually these are done to take advantage of the Surprise Impulse and thus negate the major port being equivalent to the "5-box" so defending AA is halved and can often be negated with 2 surprise.

You lost me. Do not losses in an air attack get done alternating with each side getting a choice?

Providing you have enough surprise points as the attacker, you can get to a screen that allows you to pick not just the 1st and 3rd targets, but also the 2nd.

Of course but you can only get so many surprise points?

Depends how you allocate them. All you need is 3 surprise points to be able to get to the screen that allows the attacker to select the 2nd target. Is it smart to only use them for that is another thing.
