In each weapon description there is a notation "Area #". the number is different for each weapon. Cant find an explanation in the docs so could someone tell this is an indication of?

That is a really good question. I have no idea what it means. To be honest I have seen those numbers and never thought about them. I looked through all of my units and the only thing I notice is the bigger the weapon the bigger the 'area' number is. The USA MLRS has an 'area' number of 21 and that is biggest I have found. You have me curious now.

Area is the representation of HE and small arms fire. Cleverly, area attack weapons. Hope that helps you out.

Yes for HE weapons. Or the more area guns and mg can effect. The higher the rate of fire the bigger the value but the values are still on the low end of things. A bit of an abstraction but it models well with the other factors for that type of fire.
