Folks,
I've tried to search, but have never been able to find the exact details on how the German player performs the Lvov Pocket/Lvov Pocket Extended opening move...
My apologies if I've missed a post on how to best execute this maneuver, but could someone possibly point me in the right direction?
Cheers!
Bill

Here is the original thread back in 2011 that came up with the idea. To put it short, it is about first using 17th Army's infantry to clear the units in front of 6th Army, then push 6th Army as far as possible before using the panzers. Additionally to at least one panzer corps you'll have to borrow 2 infantry and 1 cavalry division of 2nd Panzer Group to pocket the Kovel group. After the infantry moves push the panzers through the Tarnopol gap towards Rumanian border. The Lvov pocket is all about the order of moving the units. Oh, and remember that the Soviet units on turn 1 can't cross more than 1 ZOCed hex.
But honestly, if you want a fun game you should refrain from doing it. If you play against the AI doing the Lvov pocket completely ruins the game in the South. And if you are playing PBEM you should try to broker a deal with your opponent about running / transferring units. It is much more interesting that way.

The problem with the Lvov pocket is not how to do it but how to abolish it [;)]

Simply move soviet units back to the historical 22 june locations
The initial deployment is ahistorical and instead of making axis advances in the south
harder, it dooms SW front.
