Scenario: Sink the Tiblisi (The War That Never Was)

Here's the first scenario I created from the book The War That Never Was: Sink the Tiblisi. This is a small and short submarine versus surface ship scenario.
Unfortunately, I think it is broken. The ASW escorts won't sprint-and-drift, and they only go 12 knots, so I have to limit the HVU (the target) to 10 knots otherwise it overruns its escorts. I would much rather it moved in the 15-18 knot range.
Also, the submarines are pretty much blind. They can't detect the ships with anything better than their periscopes, even when creeping shallow. The ships detect the submarines and kill them every time I have tried it. I have yet to even detect the HVU.
Feel free to try it out. If there is something stupid I have done that broke it please let me know.
As an aside, this was the first scenario I created using Command. I made this in about an hour with no previous experience with the scenario editor. The reference points and missions are simply brilliant. Well done.

Tried this through and to be honest failed to find the target. I think there are a couple of things that struck me, NATO has a lot of subs, possibly too many? However I wasn't clear from the orders that I needed to chase down the Tbilisi and sink her? I had thought I was intercepting an invasion force or so on. I basically went to creep and of course never found her. I take your point that the escorts have a reasonably easy time of it, I'd be tempted to change the sea conditions with the weather even if only a little. I think its down as a flat calm, so escorts will stand a better chance of picking your subs up.
If the idea behind the scenario is that the subs need to overtake and run down the carrier, that's feasible (its a pretty difficult scenario mind) but I also suspect you'd need more time to work your way past the carrier and escorts, then set up the attack.
My guess is the scenario length needs to be raised.
I'm probably also being incredibly petty, but the spelling would be Tbilisi I reckon, unless a different name is used throughout the book?
I don't think it would need a great deal of adjustment to be truthful, the escorts that I did find were a pain, I lost Warspite for no return at all.

Great suggestions. I totally botched the spelling of Tbilisi! [X(] How embarrassing! [:(]
I do want to add some weather. That was on my to-do list but I gave up on this scenario due to other issues. The Tbilisi is actually headed south right at your subs initially. You are supposed to be in a pretty good position to intercept without having to do a long tail-chase. But, like I said before, the subs seem pretty deaf and never hear the carrier. Nor do they hear the ASW escorts (and then promptly die).

Have just tried it again knowing that you need to run around the group, managed to get a couple of long range shots off but not in a good position, and ran out of time. I had of course almost lost all my subs by then too. I did run out of time as well.
Its a intriguing scenario, trying to get the position for the attack.
