Thank you in advance

As far as I know, my battle module is v1.4.0...
Whatever it is, it's making scrap metal of my long
range Mechs...

well, only a select few are testing WS asfar as i know, and light long range mechs....well, to be honest with you, i dont think it's such a good idea.

Conclusion: 1) Airdrops are implemented already, though only
the comp can use them. 2) 2 PGs in a 140 tonner with mid-
level armor beats two regulars (40t & 100t) with novice
pilot... Hmmm...

Ps. With the said combination, my novice jock beat up
two veterans. Not bad for a "not good" mech. =)

Airdrops are in v1.4, however you're right, it is only the AI that can use them. They don't always happen mind you, though I'm not sure on the exact frequency, and what the conditions for them are.
If, as is relatively normal, you're playing with your long-range titans back and the shorter range guys running in, it seems to be the case that the enemy titans generally drop in right infront of your long-ranger. Though, again, I'm not sure what the decision making process is with the AI placing it's dropped titans.
If you're really worried about getting hammered by them there are a couple things you can do:
1) Leave a bodyguard with your long-range titan. Though it is kind of a pain since you reduce the number of titans rushing forward.
2) Ensure that there is a mid-range titan in your group that can quickly turn around and get in some free shots as the dropped titans are dropping down.
3) Pick a Long-Range titan (or build one) with a mid-range to short-range weapon. if you want one of the pre-built ones, I suggest the Vulcanoid which has a meduim-laser. That was you could hold the off until help comes.
There's probably alot of other choices for dealign with them. Just thought I'd give you a few.

You can change how often Airdrops occur by altering the percentage value in the binit data file.
If an airdrop happens the ai will drop very near a few randomly selected titans.
Count up the weight value of your enemies and compare it to the total weight of your own team. If you have about the same weight as the AI then you needn't fear airdrops. (unless, of course, you set the AI to have more weight than you) This way, you can decide early in the game whether or not to leave a guard for your longer ranged titans.
Also, if your weights come up different by only 20-30 tons, it's prolly not the result of airdroping titans. Look for differences of 40-60 at least.

Yes, airdrops are scary things indeed.
I should have seen it coming.
"Hmm, I think for once I'm not grossly outonned by the AI, time to set up an ambush and kick some tail!"
La dee da, the BaitMkIV/Crucible combo is making short work out of the hapless opponent until I see those ominous words.
AIRDROP OF TEAM 2 DETECTED
"Oh F**k!"
At this point, the SENSIBLE thing to do is head for the hills and get the hell off the map. 9/10 times, if you get airdropped, you're SCREWED!
The STUPID thing to do (that is, what I did) was try and split the group and get the CC titans and Long Range units to fight the enemies seperately. That strategy just won't win, and you will end up ejecting from 4 titians (thankfully sucessfully) and losing a metric buttload of money in titan replacement *sigh*
Lobsteve's tips are all good. An excellent titan to have during these circumstances is the Gambler. If you luck out and cripple the enemy's systems while it's coming down, you'll stand a much better chance of surviving. Heavy Mesons, while being slow, are very versatile weapons, and great for supporting a CC titan

korg id expect you and your 400-ac4/laser/missle titans to be able to mess up a titan at that distance royally

Pardon? You know for a fact that I use heavily armoured Lights and mediums...although I am now experimenting with heavier designs.
I've seen 1sthand how devastating an AC20 can be. I wonder if my remodelled team with a Grizzly is going to be any mroe dangerous? (Yes, I AM learning from netgames)

well if you look at most of your earlier designs you use a truck load of lighter/quicker weapons with fair range to do most of your damage

hmm...
Airdrops are a pain. They almost always land near my hilltop sniper titans. Good thing about this is that they have trouble getting up there. Bad thing is that they gotta stand up and turn around to shoot em... Im really considering getting a titan with a weapon in the CBT... would make an interesting titan, for sure.

cbt guns are kinda neat for running away
but ive never used the cbt for more than basic/extra systems
EDIT: on cbt is there anyway you can use called shots against them? cuz i always end up getting the ct or the cbt on luck

If the titan has its back to you, a called shot to the CT will hit the CBT. The CBT itself isn't an option to target, it just happens if you're behind them.

hmmmm what about when there knocked down?

Pretty much the same thing. If they fall on their faces, a called shot to the CT will hit them in the CBT.
