Constant crash issue...

Hi!
Long time follower of the project, finally decided to take the plunge and pick up a copy last night.
Unfortunately, after I installed, reinstalled the prereqs (.NET 4.5 and the DX files), updated to 1.02 and B488, I tried to fire up the first tutorial. Immediately, I noticed there are two NAS Fallons, and the one to the northwest shows an aircraft wing. When I click on it I get:
Exception: The type initializer for 'System.Windows.Automation.Peers.AutomationPeer' threw an exception. Stack Trace: at System.Windows.Automation.Peers.AutomationPeer.RaiseFocusChangedEventHelper(IInputElement newFocus)0000000000 at System.Windows.Input.KeyboardDevice.ChangeFocus(DependencyObjecy focus, Int32 timestamp
etc.etc.
This happens in every scenario I've tried, including all three tutorials. Quite disappointing
I hope you guys can help, thanks!
(edit: apparently I can't post a link so I typed out as much of the code nonsense as I could possibly bear. Please let me know if you need the rest of the message)
