Can't continue - return to base bug

Ok we've tried loading several files doing several things and we just can't get past this one and it's now made the current game we have unplayable.
We got past the first error by having the CW subs stay at sea vs return to base. But now when we try to return to base the convoy points in the Faeroes gap as soon as you go to take the last convoy point out it fatal crashes.
The attached file is in the Italian return to base phase. It's the closest we can get because if we load up a saved file from either the end of the Jap RB or at the start of the allies RB it fatal crashes as well.
All in all very unimpressed with 1.12.... [:@]

You said "we" but that game file is solitaire. Were you playing solitaire but in hot seat mode?

Yes, we've been passing the files back and forth since netplay is still buggy.

You might want to use Hot Seat in future as the US entry chits are visible to both players the way you are doing it... hmmm, mind you, your way might mean sending the files less often...

Ya for the most part I've been trying to not look etc... with the issues we've had tho that kinda wrecked that as we were both trying various things to fix it. I'm about to try with 1.13 and see if that does the trick.

Ok tried one more time took a different tack at it.. we loaded up a game impulse before the EoT.. and didn't end the turn. We then had all the major powers that were having issues take a naval and forced rebased everything that was causing issues.. That seems to have gotten us past our problem point for now.

Wow, quite the masochist aren't we? I would feel like this if all the affected Major Powers were forced into a Naval Action.

Every 5 weeks my eye doctor uses one of those when he stick a needle in my left eye. Those injections have been improving my vision slightly by reducing the swelling in part of my retina. Kinda makes me look forward to visits to the dentist.[:)]

We got all the way up to corps breakdown and had to reload due to picking the wrong type of unit. We were unalble to load several of the points that we had saved and are going to reattempt this from scratch.
As to the comments about being masocists... what should we do.. toss away several weeks of playing?

Typically using old saves from previous versions can cause issues in many games, not just this one for a wide range of reasons. So I would expect you would need to restart when a new patch is released. I have done that many times since release as I just want to make sure that all the systems are reset properly. Just beacuse a save will work with a new patch does not mean that 'something' will be 'left' that could crash the game at some later point.

Well that's all fine and dandy for a scenario, but for the full global war that isn't just a realistic expectation.

What you can do is after restoring an old game to immediately save it again, exit MWIF, restart the program and restore that saved game (which is now saved under the new version). That is something I do with (very) old games if I need them. Just to be sure.
Since I'm doing that, I haven't had problems with them.

Since I'm doing that, I haven't had problems with them.
No the issue we have is we are saving at various stages, in fear of a crash, and when it does crash after restarting/rebooting several of the points where we've saved won't reload, they just immediatly give an error.. points that normally we have reloaded.. such as prelim prod phases for each of the major powers or return to base, stay at sea..
I have a sneaking suspicion that there is something corrupt in the variables for our game and it's just causing cascading problems all over the place. I've asked steve if he has time to investigate it for us vs us having to wipe the game. [:(]

Can confirm 1.1.7.2 seems to fix this one.
I got an error somewhere or other can't remember off the top of my head. Told it to continue and was able to proceed right up to the start of the next impulse.
