Reform Units ???

One of the options is reform units when a new campaign is started ... what does this mean if it is checked.

If the unit is destroyed you can "buy it back" at the beginning of the next scenario. (You will see the unit listed w/ a strength of zero)
The unit looses all of it's experience, but not it's heroes.
