Was playing Germans in Gorbatov's Charge.

The 50mm Mortar would not fire. 2-30 range, had LOS, could not fire. Had good order leader to spot, could not fire. Is this a bug?

Don't know. Just played. Fired fine. Perhaps you could upload a saved game.

You need to move the mortar out of the woods hex. Then it will work fine.

Oops, forgot to mention that. Mortars can't fire from forest hexes.

Yeah I was just fixing to say Mortars could not fire out of woods or from inside buildings.

Technically that is not true. A morter (or any weapon for that matter) can be fired from almost anywhere in RL. However, the results from doing so may not be too healthy for those doing the firing (and others close by too) [:D]

Use the LINE OF SIGHT (LOS) button on button. Its great help, not sure it's mentioned in tutorials.., it should be. Mortars can't fire indirectly, which is another discussion. Think should have leaders or units capable of spotting for indirect fire?

Mortars are fired indirectly but you use the leader to do it. Select a leader with LOS to target, then the Fire for Effect button.

Leader clicks on FFE and then on a target in the leaders LOS (does not have to be directly LOS of mortar) and the mortar bombards that target (to quite good effect as I learned in a recent scenario using an 82mm soviet mortar).

Nope, you don't always need a Leader. If the mortar can see a target, it can fire on it.
