if we work on different areas (i.e. winter terrain) we can share our work and create a more complete tool

You are right but at the moment I want to experiment my first complete map not only the bitmap.
To do this I have many things to understand again.
Anyway a winter terrain is a good idea.

Was screwing around with this tonight in Photoshop. I assume your are copying a piece of terrain and placing it as a new layer on the top grid. Some of your terrain does not completely fill the hex. What are you using to fill in the transparent areas left in the grid? Tried a couple of things but was not happy.
Thanks
Jack

for the terrain that doesn't fill the hex you'll have to draw the underlying terrain first and paint over the partial hex after.

a little tutorial..
I assume you have a basic knowledge of Photoshop
1) choose the clone/stamp tool
2) with alt + left click (on the center of the hex) choose terrain in the terrain level
3) start to paint in a new level, starting from center (the dot), keep the left click button pressed until the hex is fully painted.
4) the fully painted hex
5) again alt + left click for the road (in the road level)
6) start to paint as you did in point 3
7) that's all

For the moment i cut of the ex with the polygonal lasso tool.Ex not clear terrain.Than i use the copy and paste on a clear terrain background.Anyway the clone/stamp tool is a good idea for some work.
