Ok, so it's obviously possible. How do you get so far as the CP? I played 2 times on easy, and the overwhelming attack ratios ( 4-8 dmg points per attck) plus the ability for the AI to attack, move, and repair all in the same turn just crushed me. Tips are appreciated [;)]

I'm trying to create a seamless AAR to show you and others how to beat the Entente AI on balanced setting, but I am having a problem getting all the jpg SS into the same post. It's more end game stuff than the beginning.

Let's take this conversation over to the 1.4.2 patch thread, for there is some experimenting going on with this thread.
Thanks, Operating

Yes, that has been posted for awhile, have not read the whole AAR, I believe there were a # of videos by riothouse, thanks for reminding me to go back and finish checking it out.

The three videos with the Central powers by Thehistoricalgamer are also interesting to watch: at the start he sent the German fleet to destroy the two British infantry units crossing the channel and sank them, which is a serious blow to the British. He has not posted any new videos for a week, so of course it is stil early in his campaign, but useful to see good starting moves for the CP.

Going against the entente naval AI is one thing, especially in the Channel, but there are some sneaky Entente MP players who can chop your props off and stick em up your you know what, if you care to venture into their green dot hexes with your Imperial battle flag and send you like a whimpering dog back to home port a lot less leery to repeat the operation again. It takes 12 turns to just to replace a cruiser fleet, BBs are almost prohibited to replace, tough enough to just repair and upgrade, never mind the time in turns it takes. I'll try and find those videos you are talking about and check out the tactics.

I am currently on turn 83 of my second game against the Entente AI (balanced setting, version 1.5.2) and have crushed the Entente AI. I lost miserably to the Entente AI (same setting and version) in my first game due to an overwhelming Russian onslaught that I was unable to contain. It helped a lot to be more aggressive and on the offensive early on the eastern front.

Have a look (if you haven't already) at the very excellent "Trench Warfare for Beginners" guide posted on Steam by Dr. Duh (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =293198723).

The short of it is that the AI can be very punishing if you make even the slightest error (especially early on in the game) and you need to decide which front or fronts will be your priority. I opted to prioritize the Russian front in my second game, partly because I got beat up on this front in my first game, but mostly because of the opportunity to go on the offensive and take some Russian territory and destroy units to cut the Russian bear down to being more manageable, and then wait for them to surrender.

I also had the Ottoman Empire make good progress with an offensive in the Caucasus while effectively holding off the British in Egypt.

I wanted to also comment on the tactic of using the German navy early in the game to destroy British units heading for France. I too saw this in the videos posted by Thehistoricalgamer and decided to give it a try. It worked nicely as I was able to destroy an infantry unit in one turn and a Cavalry on the next turn...but, and as pointed out by 'operator', I wouldn't try this against an experienced human opponent.
