Tank engagement tip

Tanks are fun. But they are not fun one on one. As soon as your tank engages an enemy tank...it is as if the two tanks are in melee. Chances are one is gonna get destroyed or abandoned and one is gonna get out unscathed. If you roll up only one tank on an enemy stationary tank, its gonna get to fire first, its gonna be more accurate as none of these tanks in this game are accurate on the move. And with all things being equal,(e.g. armor, accuracy, penetration), the enemy tank is gonna win more times than it loses.
The AI tends not to move its tanks in clusters. So stack the odds in your favor. As soon as you locate an enemy tank, overwhelm it with yours. Send 2-4 tanks to take care of the enemy tank if you can. Engage the tank in one single turn... Chances are you are gonna kill the defending enemy tank and lose at MOST one of your tanks. If you know where several enemy tanks are ....use the LOS button to isolate one enemy tank is (until the developers remove the LOS function, in the board game ASL...it was illegal to check LOS before moving or firing...this game no such restrictions..so use it.) Tom's AI uses it, and uses it pretty well to isolate your tanks.
Finally, dont be afraid to stack, your buttoned tanks on one hex....stacking tanks on one hex, makes it easier to get more tanks that can only engage one enemy tank and you get a bonus when the enemy tank tries to hit your stacked tanks.
