From Grognard Supply Depot to Casual Gamer Depot.

Have you actually played the game, or the board game that inspired it, Circus Maximus? This is far from a casual game. I guess Command, Flashpoint Campaigns and War in the West all fall in to the casual games category too?

Circus Maximus is many peoples board game Grail game. I would love some sort of Gladiator game next where the player controls a Ludus.... Something similar to the very popular Spartacus

Nah Mr. McNeil i have atm 42 Slitherine / Matrix Games From Across the Dnepr 2nd Ed. to War in the East.
But...

But Things like Qvadriga, Fantasy Kommander... I don't Know... Maybe I'm to Old for that kind of Games....

I think you are underestimating the details present in both games, but to stay on topic and concentrate on Qvadriga here: it is a light game in terms of being easy to use, and that a race finishes in a short amount of time, so it is perfect for casual play, but it is a game heavily involving tactical decisions, and it is quite carefully balanced. So it is not a light game in the way you seem to think.

quadrigas definitely a strategy game there is no question about it - and i guess strategy is matrix games forte - i have gotten this and it is alot of fun and there is quite alot to take into consideration with each turn - i'm entering the curve, my left horse is about to collapse, and there is a wrecked quadriga from previous race in front of me, to boot i am moving too fast that i cant move to the inside lane (last time i did that i destroyed my quadriga altogether, had to run from the track - which itself can be fatal with oncoming horses) and on my right there is an opponent who is blocking me -...i- that was one of the situations presenting itself and thats what i like about this game. It has a strong focus on making crucial decisions, its not about quick reflexes with a gamepad - its not some run of the mill racing game.

Also the game has alot of history in it too with the track locations - its impressive and very tight the whole package. One of those today rare games that a possibly faultless on release.
I am not one for racing games, but this is a very different type of experience.

Too old for a casual, fun game?!? Never! Lighten up, Francis! )

I like a good, deep, brain burner strategic and/or tactical game as much as anyone, but I also love a quick, fun and exciting game. There is room for a variety of games on my hard drive, and I am 48 years old. I love Commander: The Great War and the Decisive Campaigns series, and I also love Diablo 3 and Battlefield 4.

This game is sure getting some excellent player feedback. I might just have to jump into it!

Everyone has their favorites which is fine. There are certain types of games I have no interest in trying but we do need to be careful not to assume our likes and dislikes apply to others or we can cause unnecessary antagonism in our hobby. Our community is small and friendly so lets keep it that way and support each other's interests!

I think the demo in it's current state does more harm than good. Playing individual races only makes the game appear more casual than it really is, more suited to mobile devices, perhaps. I held off on purchasing it until I read more feedback on the campaign, and now I'm glad I got it.

Perhaps if you could add some elements of the campaign to the demo.................

I agree I thought the demo gave the wrong feeling about the overall game. Having been familiar with Circus Maximus the boardgame I felt confident enough to purchase it anyway... and I am very happy with the purchase.

There was also a Gladiator board game IIRC was pretty cool.

+1 Gladiators... same style as this game; I'd buy it tomorrow!

So this game is based on Circus Maximus? Sniff...I have very fond memories of that game from my youth, I might have to pick it up.
