OK, What Does This Mean

In my last race a symbol that looked like a red flask or bulb kind of like this: flashed on one of the racers several times. He didn't seem hurt or injured, so what did it mean?

This pops up when a race event is activated. Example would be the poison water even where your horse may not respond to the whip. If you select whip and the even triggers, this flask appears and the whip has no affect on the horse.

Yes, there are two kind of events that triggers it: poisoned water, affecting all teams, and drugged horses that penalize your team only
