Turning on aircraft factory upgrades

From time to time someone complains that aircraft factories don't upgrade
when new types become available. One thread on the Forums on this matter
said it would happen eventually, but might not happen immediately.

It turns out this issue may be player induced - possibly unintentionally. Each
factory, and also all the factories on a side, can be set to "upgrade" or to "keep" -
player choice. I suppose it might be possible to hit one of the buttons on the
global "land air units" or "naval air units" displays without realizing one had done so.

IF you set a factory to "keep" it will NEVER, EVER upgrade. Because code is honoring your request!

The default, both sides, in both stock and in the beta forms of AE, is "upgd"
If it gets changed, probably a player has changed it. However, for any given
location, if you display aircraft factories, you will occasionally find all production
has been changed to N even where it was manually set to Y. If that field changes
to N, possibly at the same time it also changes to "keep" For that reason it is a good idea to check aircraft factories to be sure they are producing. Simply check for both the Y and the "upgd" at the same time. They are in columns and easy to spot once you are aware of what to look for. A picture of Los Angelus' aircraft factory display is (kind of) on page 226 of the manual (except the entire column of Y next to upgd is missing - that is there is only one column of Y's - not two as in fact appears).
