This is the scenario briefing as given to us at the start of the game.

I have broken it down, and annotated the map with it, so it makes more sense.

Remember you can zoom in and out of your browser by holding down Ctrl key and rolling the mouse wheel.

Superb productions these, Daz. I wish (because I'm so lazy) that you would zip them all up when you're done, put them in a nice folder (labelled Daz's Planning Aids: Greyhoud Dash, or Daz's Planning Aids: Losheim etc etc) and stick them in the Mods section. Because they are great mods that are very very very helpful when planning these scenarios. Love it. Many thanks.

One thing we are doing with the Med pack is adding some designer notes and supporting doco and a film in one case to the Documentation folder of the Game directory. So Daz if you want we could include a zipped version of these planning aids within the Documentation folder. Best if you segregate them into individual zip files for each scenario. If you are interested, just let me know and we can work ouit how best to get the data to us.

The maps were from an excellent website here

The image was made from quite a few stitched together.
There was a bit missing in the middle that was not covered by any of the maps, so I had to fudge it in from bits of others, and the copious use of the stamp clone tool.

One day I will package it all up in an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.
I don't know how to do that yet so won't be for a while.

This is just a quick rough and ready Objectives image.
I don't want to spend to much time on the planning for this one, as I want to get on and play it.

I've not played this one before so it will be interesting [:'(]

What would be the deadline for that? I'm not very good at deadlines [:D]

Its all very bitty at the moment with quite a lot of my stuff unfinished, or in need of a polish [:'(]

I have Adobe Acrobat as part of my Photoshop subscription.
Would I be better off just using that when I am ready do you think?

I have just been studying the map.
Its amazing how close things look when your zoomed out.
When you first look at the map you think it will be easy, and quick to get to these objectives.
Its only when you zoom in and start to move your forces about you start to realise how epic a task it is [X(]

This is my idea of an objective HUD (head up display) that would be on an overlay for Command Ops 2 maybe?

This scenario only has 8 days though.
It could be a problem to fit all the days in clearly if there were a lot more days in the scenario.
Not that many of the scenarios are longer by much.

Might have to have a re-think on this one, but I'll post up what I have done so far anyway.

All the reinforcements for this scenario come in at about the same place in the South East corner of the map.
There are a lot of units that enter as reinforcements. Way over half of the OOB in fact.

This is because both of the Divisions were moving in Road Column, as they approached this map, on a single road.

So I thought I would try something different this time, and use a timeline.

Sorry, but his is a very big image.

It needs to be big to get all the things I wanted to see on one image.

My original is 4.5 meg in size but I have had to reduce it down to below 1 meg to get it on the forum due to file sixe restrictions.
Consequently the quality of the image has been reduced a lot.

The document size for it while working in Photoshop was 1.5 gig [X(]

The background colours were sampled form an image of a Wehrmacht uniform, which happened to throw up some nice pastels but also a pale pink [&:]

This image is to trump all the others. It should be the only one you need to plan your battle.
I tried to keep the Division structures as intact as possible, in the OOB, but still show the arrival times arrows with not to many crossing.
Its a bit jumbled but not to bad.

So now you know what I was doing all weekend [:'(]
I hope to start the actual battle soon, but first I need to do an image for my plan.

I'm just going to do a few rambling slides to show my thought processes, going into my plan.
Please don't look on this as a guide on how to win the scenario.

I've not played this one before so I could easily fail miserably, but at least I will have given it my best shot, and you will know how NOT to do it when its your turn [:'(]

Just a tiny remark on the circles for the objectives: the yellow part (which is the passive part) of the circle gets more attention from the eye than the part where the objective is active. So I think it would be more effective if the colours are reversed, or the yellow is replaced by a transparent or pale colour.

However, One could argue that it is just as important to know when the objective is closed, as it is to know when it is open though [;)]

Perhaps a red, though it would still catch the eye, it also seems to be a common color for stop.

If I didn't own the game already I would buy it for the historical information and maps just based on these planning aids.
