Weekly Spotlight: Dragonhold

This week spotlights the proud knightly outpost of Dragonhold...

Dragonhold is a small mountain outpost, originally established by the Boruvian Empire as a watchtower against the barbarians of the North and the orcs of the East. For centuries, Dragonhold has stood as a knightly bastion, commanded by the Order of the Dragon. As Boruvia declined, Dragonhold remained, standing resolute, as civilization threatened to collapse. In more recent times, Dunmar was established, and this new realm has served as a welcome bridge to the West. Still, Dragonhold remains aloof. The Order of the Dragon is an elite order that views much of the humanity as either lesser or lost.

Dragons as standard units! How is that being balanced?

The Dragons are fiercely territorial, but refuse to be used for human wars of expansion.

In the game, Dragons may not be part of attacking Stacks, but may remain behind to garrison provinces that Dragonhold owns. In addition, Dragons take a long time to build. This makes Dragonhold one of the most powerful realms defensively. On the offensive, Dragonhold is far more conservative.

I really think the cards should have nation specific artwork on them..for instance the druid is an elf and the battlemage an Orc here..seems odd. It would also be cool if they had actual names and a brief bio. Infact I'd have say two or three of each type with different stats though. Gives long term playability and more player choice.

+1.... perfect post!

I was a little disappointed with the repeated characters but it's still a work in progress. Hopefully that changes or at least can be customized.

And thanks Breca for keeping us up on things. I'm still watching...

Thanks for the feedback!
The plan is to roll out some more portraits so as not to conflict racially (like those human warlords for dwarven realms). These should be appearing in the next month.

Good Hunting!

Dragonhold's Unit spotlight: the Cloud Dragon.

Cloud Dragons are immensely powerful dragons, second only to the Sun Dragon. Their attacks are Illusion-based magical attacks. Being proud and haughty beasts, they will defend their mountains ferociously, but cannot be bent to wage war on foreign soil.

When a Cloud Dragon receives its first combat Medal, it may gain one additional ability of your choice:

Fearsome: A Unit facing this Unit suffers a -1 Morale
Reconnaissance: Reconnaissance may use phased movement. In addition, if this Unit takes damage from a direct attack, it automatically Retreats, even if they are not Disordered.

When a Cloud Dragon receives its second combat Medal, it may gain a final ability of your choice:

Attack +1
Ranged Attack +1
