Hi all,
a new scenario for test,

BACKGROUND:

Oil exploration and production has boomed in the Gulf of Guinea. The once Spanish colony of Equatorial Guinea’s corrupt government has asked for Spanish assistance with protection of the countries offshore oil and gas platforms.

Tensions with Nigeria have escalated as they continue to press their claims on our offshore oil fields.

A minefield has been detected stopping all access to our platforms. Spanish mine sweepers have arrived…

The oil wealth of Nigeria has attracted military support from the Dutch who have assisted with acquisition of spare parts and technical assistance in restoring the Nigerian air force.

Unfortunately the region is also West Africa’s most pirates riddled waters.

Design Notes:

Much of the Nigerian air force and navy is not included ive used other nations ships and planes as direct substitutes. Where small patrol vessels could not be directly matched ive chosen a very similar class and edited it to match. Ive used JANES as a resource for the NAVY all all aircraft used are those that Nigeria had in its OOB at the time.

Lots going for the scenario, unusual balance of forces, the region, and the messages worked well. I don't think scoring is in yet, I suspect I'd have lost!
Ideally a few adjustments I suspect.
The message log probably needs clearing before scn save. The names probably need a look at. I think my group name was a default Group 240, I think most of my ships were the class lead name, not individual ships etc. I thought this did stand out a bit with the enemy vessels, most came up as tiger type rather than the renamed vessel if you follow? If the merchants and oil platforms are known or can be guessed at those might be nice.

Its also a very intense battle, and it doesn't last that long, this is a good thing for the majority, but it did mean that the scenario was effectively over with I think 12 hours to spare.

Overall I thought it was pretty tricky at times too. The Harpoons don't always get through, I lost the Newport class which was something of a shock as not all attackers got hit by the Harpoon strike. The weather means the mavericks and some of the harpoon attacks are awkward. I never did get in a harrier strike. The Hornets had to come in pretty low through bad rain to often get off a shot, but be hit in return. I thought that made for some very tense engagements to be truthful.

Hey Flanker

many thanks for the feedback, ill make some changes,
yes it does play out much faster than i thought it would

I'll try to get scoring sorted, i tend to not add scoring in as i feel you sort of know if you have won or lost this sort of scenario

yes the cluttered waters make harpoon hits a little more difficult than just fire and forget

did you find any mines ?

I names all of the Nigerian navy, i think the issue may be that it shows the class name rather than the individual vessel name, not 100% sure but will check it out

VERSION two added in original post scoring still not enabled

thanks
