Portrait/landscape resolution troubles

I like to play on my 8" Win8 tablet which works just fine running 1280x800, but if I start the launcher in portrait mode the launcher gets cut off to the right. Even if I switch to landscape the right part is missing so I can't press X (close window).

And if I start the game in landscape but inadvertently change to portrait the right part of the window gets cut off and wont change back when I revert to landscape. See the attached screenshot.

None of the other seven Matrix distributed games I own do this, though it's fairly easy to deal with.

Edit: oh and for some reason it doesn't do 800 vertical but rather say 768 perhaps even though I've selected 1280x800.

To be honest I didn't even know the game would run on Surface. It looks like what is happening there is switching to landscape changes the resolution but the game still thinks its in the same resolution as when in portrait. Offhand I'm not sure what to do about that but I will see if I can find some literature and get the game to change to the new resolution on the fly.

As for the 768/800 issue, I left 32 pixels for the desktop taskbar.

Thanks for your reply. If it's easier to have the game keep its selected resolution even if the desktop res changes that would do just fine.

It would also be nice to be able to use the full 800 pixels. I always auto hide the task bar and could really use the extra space. Wouldn't make a major difference though of course, just a minor improvement.
