Viewing the promo for the new Godzilla movie brought back memories of an old Harpoon event where they gamed Godzilla attacking Tokyo. Anyone have the stats from that scenario? Might be fun to add to the Command data bases.[:)]

Might of sold us on Kaiju in Pacific Rim.

Problem really is the damage model. How may punches could a Burke take?

Dang, guess this leaves out modelling the Stingray I wanted, but only if it could be done in supermarionation.

I know, I'm getting old. [:D]

Some of the kaiju have ranged weapons, of course...Godzilla's radioactive breath is the most famous. You could model that as a big laser with a short range (0.5 miles?) and a huge magazine (10,000 shots?) and a long reload time (one shot per minute?). This would also cover Ghiddorah, the three-headed-whateveritis.

A typical punch/bite/tail swipe from a kaiju/large sea monster is pretty fearsome. A few hits will take down a merchant vessel. Maybe one fifth the damage of a typical torpedo? Again, you model it as having a huge magazine but a slow reload rate (one bite/punch/etc. per ten seconds?) This is based on the typical results of a kaiju going after a ship in the various movies, of which I have probably watched far too many. :)

Along with Godzilla, I'd love to see Behemoth (from The Giant Behemoth) and Kraken (from It Came from Beneath the Sea) in Command. Both of them do have scuffles with naval vessels or aircraft of one kind or another.

Of course, I'd also like to see flying saucers in Command. That would actually be a lot easier to model...very fast aircraft with a nuclear engine so it never has to land and an incredible ceiling and some lasers (again with a big magazine) and you're pretty much done.

C'mon...you know people want to see it. :)

[:D] I know I was joking. [:D]

I tend to like my simulations to simulate real situations, so a lot of the giant monsters and UFO engagements don't interest me too much. I wouldn't want to spoil anyone elses fun though, but when it comes to software I think the developers have to watch out for mission creep.
