Most units have reached their defensive positions. Each battalion has an Engagement area.
2-66 AR on the left, 3-41 In in the center, and 4-41 In on the right.

End state. 2-66 AR opened at around 5200 meters. 4-41 IN was able to use FASCAM and ICM to disrupt river crossings, resulting in a piecemeal Soviet attack.

Do you play with full Fog of War? If you don't and can see where the AI is coming from then I would expect you to win every engagement with a Decisive Victory.
Good Hunting.

Yes, I did have fog of war turned on (browse enemy off, enemy units/markers always visible off). I looked at terrain and VP locations and used those to predict the axes of advance. I assume the AI plots waypoints for computer forces the same as for human, when all the human does is pick the ending waypoint. So, that results in a lot of IFR land nav ("I Follow Roads"). Thus, I expect to see Ivan coming down roads leading to VPs.
I have found you can deny an unblown bridge by using a combination of FASCAM, ICM, and about a tank company. Kill a copmany or so and the AI will go look for an easier route.

The AI will use roads but it's not adverse to going overland either.
Good Hunting.
