The Snipe Incident, 1958 -- new beta for testing

Here's a small scenario I put together that is inspired by an actual historical dispute in Tierra del Fuego between Chile and Argentina. I found it very challenging when I was testing it because you have a corvette and Argentina has a destroyer...it can be done, but victory depends on speed, surprise, maneuvering, etc.

Enjoy! Please let me know what you think. Observations, suggestions, etc. are welcome.

(Yes, the destroyer does have a few "weaknesses" built into the scenario...that was deliberate; I found it was the only way the corvette had a chance of winning.)

Not a bad unequal scenario. I tried to hide and launch a surprise attack on the destroyer on my first attempt, and while I succeeded in that, I still lost the battle.

What finally worked for me was a sort of hit-and-run approach. I kept shooting and zig-zagging and taking advantage of the fact that the weather is awful and cuts down on visibility, which lets you get close enough to shoot first before they clearly identify you. It does not always work but with a bit of luck you can win. (You also have to re-designate them as hostile once you get a clear ID...for some reason even after they cross the boundary of the exclusion zone, the clear ID switches their rating back to just "Unfriendly" and can stop your attack).

I finally won, and I solved the issue by just turning on "engage non-hostiles."

Hi Mgellis and Coiler12,

After viewing your comments, I tried the Snipe Scenario and came away with 150 Point Victory....Thanks to your comments that is!

I won because I used some very devious deception and clever geographical subterfuge (I hid behind the rocks) and allowed SeaHag to tell me that the first three vessels were civilian. However once she said "Skunk 4 has been identified as DD" and then that he has entered the exclusion zone I first went to "creep" got off a lot of shots, then flank back behind the rocks once more while the DD seemed to forget about me and started shelling the light house. Once he was occupied, I went to flank just behind him, LET HIM HAVE IT and got a message of thanks from a grateful nation for dispatching this interloper and sending him to Davy Jones locker!

Thanks for the clues!

After downloading this scenario and opening it in the game I have no units. Not sure what went wrong, downloaded both files also.

Download and install the newest public beta. Odds are you're missing the most updated DB.
