Oil limited supply across straits bug.

A German FTR in Sicily can not be reorganized during the Use Oil Step.

The FTR is in supply, from Palermo. There is plenty of German oil available, and no Axis rail lines are blocked,so the FTR should be able to be reorganized.

I am using both the limited overseas supply rule and the limited supply across straits. There are no units from either side in the Italian Coast sea zone. Therefore, the Axis should be able to trace supply across the straits of Messina, and thus should be able to trace an oil supply line to an oil point. The fact that they can't trace supply through the Italian Coast (and thus Africa is out of supply) is not relevant.

I believe that I reported this bug already a long time ago; since I am not sure about that, I am reporting it again.

Here is a picture of the unit and the oil form; the next post will have a saved game from the German Use Oil step.

If you are playing the option Limited Access Across Straits and the Axis is unable to trace a supply path overseas through both sea zones, then the game is doing it right.

Paul is right.

Here is RAW:

You do not have to transport the oil anywhere. But you must be able
to trace a path from the unit to the oil resource. This path is exactly
like a basic supply path (including via overseas) (see 2.4.2) except
that it can be of any length.

So if you play with both LOS and Limited Supply across Straits this means that you need a convoy in the Italian Coast if there isn't an oil point on Sicily itself.

Ah. Thank you. There is a clarification in the rule that is not how I learned the rule. The clarification is clear. (I just thoroughly disagree with it!)

Again, thank you.

It was indeed a controversial ruling when it was published but since MWIF is coded that way the only way to get around it is not to use Option 12

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell one can't change options once a game has started. I wish that you could; there are a couple of options that I would like to change in my current game. (One that I did not ever intend to play, but somehow it got clicked on.) Is there any way to change options in an ongoing game?

Maybe with the debug tool. I haven't used it myself, so if one of the other beta testers knows for sure, that would be quicker.

No, you can't change optional rules during a game. That isn't in the debug tool...

A workaround would be to put an Axis naval unit in the sea zone and have the Allies ignore it.
