Range rings?

Playing the Ship/Sub tutorials, noticed a couple of rings that appear. 1) ring around ship, red, hex/octagon in shape and it expands. 2) ring around helo in sub tutorial yellowish circle with sides angular and it also expands. What are they?
New to the game still learning the ins and outs.

Angular 'rings' are uncertainty zones. The unit could be anywhere in there.

The rings are range rings for sensor and weapons, refer to map drop down menu to turn on or off.

You're right, but I think he's asking about the angular hexagons/octagons that are the uncertainty zones.

The one over the ship in the tutorial starts small then starts to expand and then disappears after ship sinks.
