Autosave

I understand that one or more Save Game slots are for the autosave feature. How does one turn this on? I have fought several battles, had a few crashes, I've never seen what looked like a saved game in the first three slots. I save on my own now. (But not in the first 3 slots).
Thanks!

Auto Save doesn't occur with Mega Campaigns. I know that for sure. I also don't think it occurs with PBEM. It should work when you play other solitaire games however. And you should see them in slots 1 & 2 (is there a slot 0?). Slots 3 to 12 (or 13?) are for PBEM.

Autosave is always "on". With the limitations mentioned above, the game will save after each turn. Look in the save game file list.
When I have a crash or other problem, it is easy to resume play commencing with the last completed turn.
While testing scenarios, I often restart a save turn so I can see what the AI is seeing during a fight. Then I exit without saving and resume the battle.

I look in the save game list, slots 0,1,2 all say "Empty email saved game"
The only 2 places I can find mention of Auto save (I searched on auto - there are a lot of them) is for internet play and hot seat.

Some types of battles are saved in different folders.
/EMAIL and /SAVE look in those and depending upon what you are doing, you will see them.
In PBEM, the autosave will occur in the file which was chosen for that battle when the game was created and saved.
In on-line play, autosave will save the game in the first 3 filenames. It does this automatically so if there are disconnects, it is possible to restart a game when connections are re-established.
Recommend that to understand this, start some scenario or another and quickly "play" a turn or two. Then open the battle in the saved games folder and you will see the autosave has been at work while you were playing.
