Patched TOAOW III to the latest but error code 200

Gents -

My summer job takes me to the mountains of Colorado. My newer I7 computer stays home; the older AMD XP (a reliable war horse) goes with me. TOAOW III resides on both computers - the I7 is patched up and runs just fine.

I have just patched the AMD copy to v322927 (comprehensive) followed by v340202. However, upon starting the game I receive a "There is an error with your serial number as entered. Please contact support @matrix games.com for assistance. Error Code:200"

The next step was to re patch all patches in order; No Go.

There are two "serialreg txt", one listing the comprehensive patch, the 2nd listing the v340202 patch. Both have the same (correct) serial number.

I also copied the i7 computer copy and installed (in a separate folder marked i7) on the AMD. Same error message.

I checked the original CD discs, and validated the serial number. Also took care to make sure each number entered per patch was correct - no accidental spaces.

At the moment the AMD CD Tray will not open - even by hand. Will get that looked at soonest; so un - installing then reinstalling is out. This was a bit of a suprise, as the AMD is dormant for long periods of time, the CD tray worked fine last time around.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I very recently reread the TOAOW III rules, played the Tunisia scenario; and once again have a serious appreciation for this awesome tactical game that has aged well. I would rate it right up there with WitP AE (which eats up 90 percent of my playing time).

My summer job (rafting bus driver on the Arkansas River) allows me one day off a week; so AE is probably on hold and I will get back to TOAOW III and some of the other excellent, fast moving games.

Thank You all for your support; am looking forward to the next patch!

Mac,

Windows7 or XP? Might have to re-install; but make sure to use "Open as Admin" as well. Check if 3.2 works, then proceed with 3.4. I also recommend to copy the Opart3XBb.exe once the game seems to work, it fixes the AAA bug and the 'ignore losses' issue quite well. As for Last Stand in Africa 42-43; that's the scenario you'd love, but with adjusted AD and MRPB for 3.4.

Thank You for your assistance and recommendations. Where would I find the Opart3XBb.exe? I did a search and found the "RE: AA Patch - unofficial and temporary" thread, but the link listed with the first post is no longer active. I am most grateful for your assistance, Sir.

Joe Miller of the Matrix Help Desk provided immediate support and resolution. Error code 200 occurs when the game has been copied from another computer without having been installed from the original installer, thus the critical registry keys are not created and the game will not run.

I purchased, installed (and registered with Matrix) TOAOW in 2006 IIRC. The AMD
(XP) has been dormant for long periods of time since I purchased the newer I7 computer in 2010. However I do play older games on the AMD which do not run on the I7.

The AMD motherboard went out this February. Took a while to find a used replacement, once it was up and running I found that all my Windows Media sound drivers were gone. That issue has been addressed. Am not sure how all this could cause the TOAOW to loose it's registry keys; however Joe kindly allowed an executable download (the CD Tray is jammed, don't want to force and break it - will get that fixed next) and I was able to reinstall the game - TOAOW is up and running.

I will do a run through all of the other games and make sure that they work.

My sincere appreciation to Joe and the Matrix Support Team; he did a first class job in resolving the issue - on Memorial Weekend Sunday!

Mac,

it's here - fb.asp?m=3483473
It's not an official one, but it works stand-alone, so nothing will be written in the registry. It enhances the gaming experience quite well I can assure you! Just needs to be copied into the main TOAW III folder, Marine!
