How to Mod the Hive Mind Gov type

So I see that sometimes my leaders get ousted when using the Hive Mind gov type and that didn't quite make sense to me, is there a way to mod it to prevent this from happening? And is there a way to change the character portrait for just the leader character?

Hello Doomling92, and welcome to the forums!

In the 'races' text file for the empire you wish to affect is a section that shows the following:

'random character appearance chance: Minimum=0, Normal=1.0, Maximum=3.0
CharacterRandomAppearanceChanceLeader ;0.#

Just change the number from whatever it is to ;0.0. There should be no change of Leader
after that UNLESS either an enemy Agent assassinates the Leader (unlikely, but can happen),
or the Leader is killed during a Homeworld invasion/takeover or Planet Destroyer attack.

In the 'characters' directory, open the empires 'character file'. Inside the file you should find
(or you can create) a line like the following:

0, Jukri Qendo, 1, , Ackdarian, 29, 15, 30, 6, 31, 12, 32, 25, 60, 62, 0

The number in bold as shown should be '1' (Denoting the Faction Leader).
Between the following commas, you can put the name of a portraying character file (i.e. Jukri Qendo.png)
and make sure that the portrayed file is in the directory:
Distant Worlds Universe\Customization\The theme or mod name\images\units\characters
Otherwise the empire's race portrait file will be used. The modding guide is more clear and
detailed on this than I just stated, but this is the jest of it. Hope it helps steer you in
the right direction!

How come? After a queen is all used up, they're commonly used as food for the young! :D Onto the next princess!

If it is set to 0.0 does it for sure still give you a new leader if the other one dies or is dismissed?

Yes. Elliot has the game hard-coded where a faction will ALWAYS create a leader irregardless of
government type if a Leader is killed or removed.
