An upgrade

Hello, not sure if anyone is here but I'm almost done an upgrade of Danube. I've rewritten it to use the interface from the Elbe game which allows for different screen resolutions and just all around better smoothness.

Awesome! Can't wait to implement it.

What is the Elbe game? Is this the Volume II we've been waiting for?

Frank,

This is great news! Looking forward to another great game. Can you share any screen shots, or give us any more details?

I still need to get an artist to make me some new buttons. At the moment I'm using blanks while I get everything working.

Thats great. The resolution probs with cotd have been its only drawback for me as it doesnt fit my laptop resolution and most options result in the lower interface being inaccesible off screen.

Wait you mention the Elbe game - which is volume 2 is this far off?

I'm hoping Elbe will follow Danube pretty quickly but I'm not positive.

The new version is now running. I'm just playing it in order to test the changes before making it available for download. Also I still have to make sure I didn't break PBEM somehow.

I'm well aware that I'm going to miss testing something so no doubt there will be an upload, bugs will be found, hopefully not too many and a new version will follow a week or so later.

Will there be continued support(import / export function) for miniatures or a third party tactical game to resolve battles ? I know many histwar players used your game as a campaign engine.

thats a good question - Matrix hasnt really been making any indication its in their line up, although the game sounds more closer to release than some in their coming soon section. If Matrix knows whats good they will release it! :-)

The game will still allow miniatures resolution. I'll be making sure that's working.

As I suspected, I did break PBEM but its working now, at least the non-Fog version is. Hopefully it'll be ready in a couple of more days if the Full Fog feature doesn't need more work.

I haven't actually told Matrix I'm doing it.
