Hello,

I want to post here my problem to have a black screen on start-up (I just see the top and bottom of the game but all the middle of my screen is black).

So when I changed my screen display to 4:3 ratio it works (basically i'm in 1900 * 1200, i tried 1680 * 1050 but got same black problem so i think it's the ratio that is a problem).

Finally i've a "temporary" solution to start the game in windowed mode (by editing Startup.ini) at 1600 * 1200, so it seems to work good(but i've to hide my windows task bar to see all the window).

I'm running the Steam version of DW : Universe, on Windows Vista 64bit with Nvidia GTX 560 Ti on 24" screen in 1900 * 1200 native display.

Disable the video intro and check if the issue persists.

For disabling the video intro:
Open the game folder and locater a file named "Startup.ini". Edit this file and replace PLAYMOVIE 1 with PLAYMOVIE 0. Save the file

It works fine with your solution.

The intro movie plays fine for me with a 1680x1050 display (nvidia graphic card, win7).
