And I don't mean ALL pop ups, just say civilian/private sector ships being idiots that they are decide to do whatever they do around a start 2-3 sectors away from any base I have. And of course that planet has a pirate base, a pirate fortress, and I get alerted every stinking time one of them gets attacked with that annoying chirp... gets really annoying when multiple ships go there and 3-4 happen in a row.

So yeah I thought private ships were supposed to have some level of "oh maybe I shouldn't go there since they keep killing me" intelligence, but it's been going on since about the time my exploration vessels found the star.

Options--Show Message settings.

Right side (Popup messages) remove the check mark in "Under Attack - Civilian Ships"

Oh god you are a godsend! I'm looking all over the option screen for these small buttons that might allow me to change some settings and of course I miss big button that's as wide as the options box.
