I have found conflicting information whether the Japanese submarine I-6 carried a floatplane during the war or not. Some sources like The Pacific War Online Encyclopedia say yes, but the TROM on the Nihon Kaigun website mentiones the float plane installations were removed in a 1940 refit. Anyone has definite information?

No, but i would take the TROM in first place.

I'd go with the TROM. They're usually of high standard.

I have an Ian Allen book called Japanese Warships of WW2 which states both I 5 and I 6 were similar but not the same..The seaplane and hanger were removed from I 5 in 1940 due to turbulence problems when submerged, but the page for the I 6 includes the plane as one of its' weapons..The I 6 was credited with sinking 2 merchant ships of approx 11,000 tons and damaging an aircraft carrier.(Military ship!!).
On June 30th 1944 she was reporting attacking allied warships off Saipan but was never heard from since..It was believed sunk by DE 259,(USS William C Miller on 14July,1944)..
