Air transfer bug

1128x7

Second time I've noticed this. Fragments not transferring correctly. If the fragment loses all of it's a/c during the transfer AND the fragment has no pilots, two fragments are created, one from and other target but neither have any aircraft. It's weirder than that as if you save the game and re-open it and try the transfer again you get another fragment.

In the save I transferred the 15th IF Chatai/A/1 from Samah to Toungoo.

If the fragment has no planes or pilots, is there a reason not to disband it? It won't affect the parent unit.

Also, you can't upgrade or downgrade the parent if there are outstanding fragments, so I'd get rid of them.

You misunderstand, the fragment had planes but the planes where lost during the transfer.

well, one fix i can see that if for any reasont that fragment reach 0 planes (dosnt matter if lost during transfer or by another reson) then that fragment is automaticaly disbanded and any pilots it may have they are automaticaly send to reserves.

I have had something similar happen to me in my recent re-plays of the Coral Sea scenario using patch 1128x8. A carrier gets damaged, fragments divert to different bases, but some fragments with 0 planes remain on the carrier. Such fragments cannot be flown or disbanded. Irritating.

Those are not fragments. Those are the parent units. If the carrier sinks the squadron is lost and you will not be able to get replacements in the fragments. Take the fragments home to save the aircraft and disband them there. If you have divided the squadron into three and only one unit is lost, say the /A, /B and /C will still be viable units. For carrier aircraft it's a good idea to expand the unit (when allowed) divide it and keep two of the pieces at home as training squadrons. Maybe cadre is the right term.

Additionally, some squadrons are not allowed to divide, sometimes because they begin the game with a detachment. If you expand these to a very large size, you probably want to just use them for training.

You can also give the unit a pilot and the problem disappears. Also, this is a recent bug.
