TURN 6. 8/3/41 " Soviets begin to collapse".
The soviets are paying hard the forward defense they do. 8000 squads in a turn is a hard price. And more is coming...

Oh my God, this thread is cruel stuff to read!

Dont despair.
I think this has more to do with the "Blitzberg - Blizzard" BUG rule wherey Russian armies are heavily tarnished at start of game. The Germans are likewise tarnished in 41-42 Blizzard....if the game gets that far.
This is perhaps why people negotiate house rules on Campaign 41 ....BEFORE starting to play. The scenario is otherwise somewhat flawed from my perception. It would be interesting to see the house rules Dave Wolf imposes on the impetuous German commander of this thread.

Wrong!!! There is no bug seems the soviet player defended with very low OPs in their HQs

Wrong!!! Some german players faced this very well even the bug.

I think all players agree with some house rules BEFORE start play.

No problems with Dave about house rules. Just a curiosity, in a hypothetical game against me, what house rules would you like to "impose" me ?
House rules

I feel put against the wall.
I lost against the Germans as Russia with some house rules. They were essentially something about limited # of air interdictions per turn...and limited # per target unit. In return game, we agreed to try and make the Russians stronger through managed "saves".
I am in course of playing as Germans with something of the following rules.
1/ G Air interdiction is limited to 5 attacks/turn till Dec 41.
2/ No restriction during Dec 41.
3/ Restriction of 2 interdiction per enemy unit and 8 in total. Unescorted bombers can interdict at their own risk outside the 8 limitation.
4/ Soviets get to save twice from Aug 10,41 through Sept 30,41/Oct 41. This doubles their production, ops points and entrenchment capacity.
5/ Finland units not allowed to attack prior to Oct 1, 41.
I think the above list covers it. I would have to look to make sure. my email of Campaign 41 NewZealand vs Canada may have the details.
A very aggressive German...which i perceive you to be; can blow through almost anything up to about Leningrad - Poltava/Kharkov.
As to your quotes....
The russians don't have much choice other than to defend with very few ops points in their HQ.
Yes, i hear some Germans manage to avoid the 41 blizzard bug by being in Moscow/Leningrad BEFORE the start of 41 blizzard. My 2nd game against Sweden was leading to that. I still suspect it is somewhat due to Soviet armies being very limited prior to Nov 41 and likely subject to the shatter rule during this time period.
Did you and Dave start a game? What house rules are you playing by?
Commentary on your house rules or the ones above are welcome.
Unfortunately, I do not feel i can justify the time for a 2nd game. I am playing one other game against New Zealand. This takes about 2 hrs per turn - perhaps 3 times per week. You are welcome to email me directly -
ben6249f@yahoo.com to negotiate a reduction of my commitment to NewZealand to spend 1 turn a week with you.
Cheers.

Mike,
It is important to keep ops points as high as possible. As they drop, bad things happen when defending (or attacking, but worse when defending). The game will randomly reduce the readiness of defending units if ops points are low, so using special supply at the risk of low ops points is a trade off that usually does not help. This readiness reduction does increase the chances of a shatter!
