Marine unit replacement while on carrier

The air unit below seems to be replacing per land mechanics, should it not use CV? CV currently in port (Pearl) where there is plenty of supply.

Is it different if the unit is carrier trained as well as capable? Or it's always necessary to unload, replace and then load back on?

Using 1.7.11.23x7 2014-05-18

interesing, it is myby some bug there. Since you should replenish anytime CAGs when on port when demands are meet (size, supply).
Try plaing with docking/undocking/disbanding.

From memory, the same rules apply to ship replacements if there are no replacement air groups in range of the ship.
--
Found the probable restriction: not carrier trained on carrier, no replacements. [Ship in a TF]

Also depends if CV in a TF or disbanded in port.

Would need to look at a save to give definite reason.

16.2, case 4 & 5:
»» The air unit is located on a ship and a replenishment air unit
is within normal range of the ship, the unit will receive planes
from the replenishment unit instead of the pool.
»» The air unit is located on a ship in the same hex as a base with an airfield size
of 1+ (TF or at anchor) and the base has over 20000 supplies. Supplies will be
expended at the base and the unit will receive damaged planes from the pool.

Another unit was able to draw planes from an on-shore unit per the first para above, but the unit in the first post cannot draw per the second para. Pearl has well over 20k supply, has no damage.

I checked an historical start save (pic). With Saratoga docked in San Diego that has 20k+ supply and airfield 1+, the same message shows in the mouse over. The marine air unit is not attached to 'Independent', but the rule above does not require that.

The restriction is: not carrier-trained on carrier, no replacements
Verified with a similar test.

I don't mind if it's WAD that the unit must be carrier trained.

My understanding is; A unit on a carrier has to be carrier TRAINED to take replacements while on the carrier at sea. If docked or disbanded in a port with supply and the right size, then you should be able to take replacements. Also the Replenishment rule I believe is talking about a carrier trained replenishment unit on another carrier, a CVE in range with a replenishment group on board. Just my impressions. GP

Well, i can accept that if that unit/ship is at sea that they dont recive reinforcment, since they "are not trained and used to this", but i cant find reason why this restriction apply when ship is in port (disbanded/tf) when moving of planes to this ship is done via port cranes.

I believe that it should be allowing replacements when DOCKED (either TF or ship in port >2). I will address.
