Maximum number of Legions (as per script)

Hello again,

I would like to know what will be the maximum number of legions that the Romans will we allowed to field.

Titus Livius aka Livy's II Punic War (which I read minimum 3 times) gives a lot of details: number of legions, their bosses and theatre of operations. Almost always in pairs (2 legions + auxiliaries [x2 Roman force usually]).

The thing is near the end of the war there were IIRC 21 or 23 legions raised.

What about the game? Maximum scripted number please? Anyone? [:)]

Thanks in advance

Hi again.

You start with 5 legions (plus one "Urbe Legio").

If all events that can either give directly new legions or allow their building during the game (including volones, freedmen, the legions that come with the dictators, etc), the max number of legions in the field at end-game is 22 (plus 2 Urbe Legios), IIRC

Regards

AGEOD never cease to amaze me [:)]

Respecting history should be their motto. It is as if they had said "there were x Roman legions fielded (as per historical sources, Livy obviously). Now let the Roman player have exactly that".

And the game has to be balanced the same. Now that you have the hypotheses, make a game that more or less simulate this struggle: Hannibal has to be strong enough to survive in the Italian Peninsula, but not invincible, or Rome will not stand a chance [8D]

Great job.
