I've noticed colors have change in one of the latest patch, and im not sure if its intentional:

e.g.
Negative Cashflow on top right is blue, not red
Full shields = Full Red Bar
Empty Shields = Full blue Bar
Pause message is teal, not yellow.
Fleet Posture (defence) shows on map as a red ring, not blue.

There is likely a few others ive not noticed yet, i only noticed it as the negative cashflow was hard to read with it being blue on black and didn't remember it being like that.

I have a few error messages when i first launch the game, something about the GameDRV having issues [31]. Not sure if that is the cause or not. i re installed through steam to try resolve this, issue persists.

Resolved on my game as of today.

Not sure if a patch came through steam, but i no longer get the errors on start up, or the inverted colour thing.

I got this today again, and the colors are back to being confused.

I cant offer anything which might explain why i have this error again. Strangely a restart of my PC fixed it.

My guess is that it is a graphics card issue. Maybe try to update drivers?

Are you running through steam or standalone?

Maybe, although i would expect the issue to be constant if it was a hardware fault.

Drivers are up to date.

This has only really started in recent patches, i managed to play without any issues from last month and most of this month.

I run through steam.

I dont suppose there is some kind of glossary with error codes and their description to see what that [31] error is complaining about?

I did a google of your error and got some guesses about steam overlay.

GAMEDVR appears to be some recording feature on AMD graphics cards? If you don't use it, maybe it is possible to disable it? The error seems to be that it crashed.

Gah, i hate that.

I'll make sure both are turned off and try again when i get home later.
