I have also posted this issue on the Wargamer forum.

The game was working fine yesterday and then today when I tried to start the game through Steam, it
looked as if it was loading as it went to a black screen for about 2-3 seconds before going back to
the desktop.

The game tab still appears along the bottom windows bar however when I click on it a repeat of the
above happens -----> Black screen for 2-3 secs followed by a return to the desktop screen.

I don't know what the heck has happened since yesterday as I haven't touched or tweaked anything.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Could you please try to start the game with your Anti-virus disabled?

Could you also please attach a DxDiag report file?

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message

Was the game set to Windowed mode or Full Screen?

When the game was working the day before the issue started occurring it was in Full Screen mode...

Actually it I had tried it both ways and it worked fine... Now it wont load up at all..

I double click the icon to run the game then this screen appears :

I click on Play CC - Gateway to Caen and it goes to a black screen for a few seconds before going back to desktop!

Is is worth doing a re-install...?

Well Steam must have updated and now its working again... WTF..!!! [8|][&o]

Well Steam must have done another update overnight as its doing the same thing again...

I ran the file you linked to so that it runs in windowed mode, that work ok.

The issue definitely seems to be with Steam.
