Watched the naming process today. It looks an impressive ship, especially next to the illustrious class carrier. Though I suggest the government get there finger out and purchase some more aircraft. 3 airplanes are going to look lonely aboard the aircraft carrier. [:D]

That's some very good quality CGI.

That's a great ship, and a fantastic new capability for Britain, indeed. I think I see quite a few US Navy carrier features in her.

Hmm, it seems that they'll extend support for commercial flights too.
As for arrival / departure screens. [:D]

I was surprised at the scene where all the flight deck flood lights were switched on. Light security is a VERY big deal in the US Navy, we couldn't even smoke a cigarette on the weather decks after sundown. Is it not as large a concern in the British Navy?

If I had to take a guess that would be simply because you need lights for 3D and to be able to see things clearly. Sure they could have gone with a green NVG look, but the animators/vfx people probably thought well if we need to add lights to the scene and don't have a sun, lets turn on the ship's lights because that will look good and sell the idea it is meant to be night in what is basically meant to be advertising where looks count.

I understand what you are saying, but my point was this; In the USN, when you are out at sea in the evening, all lights are kept extinguished as much as possible. This would include (especially) the lights on the flight deck of a carrier. In the longer CGI movie about the QE, there is a scene where they have turned the flight deck flood lights on. obviously, this is a VERY bright source of illumination. In my experience, this is a huge NO NO.

Although QE and PoW look cool I would comment on poor design.
Both elevators are just on starboard side.
Same with weapon elevator/s and its door are turned to the sea, not deck, could be for safety?, but crew have to go around bridge still.
What's with those big kinky bridge windows, oh yes they blend in just fine as a wallstreet building out in the open ocean.
How about we spray whole section with some glass. Nowhere in the world in naval/aerospace, towers, ships, planes are
windows that big just because they can. Oh it is reinforced glass alright, but how much does that cost?
What I want to point that she was not designed for taking hits, ok maybe defence, but one or two lucky leakers could make her inoperable for good.
It is however HVU and expect significant salvo in her way. Maybe not exocets, har har har.
Somehow they seems to be too modern, not safe, but 'feels' just goodeee, catch my drift.
They just look 'dangerous', they will cost as hell, But will they survive long enough?
Guess they're not gonna be build in china, are they, nudge nudge.
Yeah let's build two , tax payers approved
Cheerio
