Crash Dump - any ideas?

I have created a map which crashes pretty much every time within 20-40 years game time. An example crash dump is set out below. Does anyone have any idea, from the crash dump, what could be causing the error? It happens on 2 different computers (one of which is new).

Distant Worlds - Crash Dump - 1.9.5.5

NB I am getting this error even when playing a game which contains no pirates. Bizarre.

Do you add any systems to the map when you created it?
I have seen other posts where folks create a map then add systems above the starting number and experience undefined behavior, like your index out of range problem.
Essentially the way I understand it when you create a system say with 400 systems you can deletes systems and have fewer without issue, but may run into trouble if you have more than 400 systems.

I haven't tested this myself yet, so your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the reply.

If you're right, then I guess I'm in real trouble, because the star map has 1400 systems, but I created it using a starting map of only 100 systems. Why did I create the map with only 100 systems? Because I wanted a blank canvas, and I didn't want to have to delete 1400 f*****g systems to make one!

Sadly, I'm very close to being done with this game.

That is sad Osito. I was looking forward to a very special map from you one day... [:(]

I think, at least at this point in time, using the editor to make a map is too cumbersome. I abandoned my plans to do so a while ago (mainly because of the problem of the covered selection window).

Maybe the possibility to make maps (and hence full blown scenarios) will get some love at some later point.

I'm getting the same error but it doesn't end with a crash. The game just throws an exception with exactly the same message, sometimes when I click on space port or a planet. When I click "continue", resume the game and wait a couple of days (20+ or so) it works fine, again and allows me to see what's being produced, to build facilities, etc.

I haven't given up yet, Feelotraveller, but I really do agree about the editor being cumbersome. It almost seems like it's working against me at every stage. My map is essentially finished (and, personally, I quite like it), so if I can fix the crashes, I will.

@deathnoise, yes I have experienced that as well in some circumstances, but this particular error results in a CTD. I have no idea why the game sometimes seems to be able to continue, but other times it can't.
