Man, I love this game.

Just started really getting back into CMANO coincident with the 1.04 release. I love this $hit.
Just played Texas Crow. Then replayed it. Then again, each time using different strategies. I think the last time something entertained me like that was Sid Meier's Gettysburg.
If you're into weapons, platforms and all that - this thing is like the best toy ever under the Christmas tree. I'm especially enjoying how easy it is to mod scenarios, adding and subtracting platforms, loadouts, etc to experiment with different showdowns.
And all of this on a tiny little Dell Venue 8 Pro 8" tablet to boot. The game seems to use all the cores (4 of 'em) and so it chugs along quite nicely. Good programming helps too, I'm sure. It's been since back in the 1.02 days that I last had a CTD. This thing is stable and runs easily under Win8.1 with only 2gb of RAM.
Way to go, guys. All of this for exactly no extra cash. No game has surpassed my expectations like this since Panzer Front on my Dreamcast (that's a whole other story, right there).

yeah even with the learning curve i agree with you. i've got a lot more fun out of CMANO than the $80 or so it cost...almost feel guilty. i got my first 'minor victory' earlier in the day...was fairly pumped.

To me, that learning curve is a big part of my enjoyment of the game. So many simple games out there, the complexity/detail of this is mentally refreshing.

For me, it's all about trying different things with the toys at my disposal. Like in Texas Crow, where I learned that your TACTCOM Tomahawks also make for excellent expendable recon drones to firm up a target for a subsequent strike. Makes sense now that I think about it - They've got IIR and a video datalink. Just didn't think of it.
The "game" would probably be a great learning tool for someone in the business of blowing $hit up. The great strength of CMANO has to be its "bottom-up" approach, in that it seeks to accurately simulate all the physics of the various events and then the rest of the sim devolves from that. It makes it about a thousand times harder to "de-bug" (because you sometimes get bizarre results when the equations aren't quite right), but it's worth it because of the emergent gameplay that only this approach can provide.
Emergent Gameplay, to me, means that stuff happens that no one planned or scripted. It just happens because the underlying modelling of physical systems is correct. Like in ARMA 2 when I shot out the tire of a speeding Technical and watched as the game's rather accurate physics caused the driver to swerve, overcorrect and flip the thing - throwing everyone out and killing them. Call me a sociopath but Boy did I have a big grin after seeing that. That's the kinda thing that happens in CMANO constantly.

I completely agree. It's so nice to sit down and really savor a simulation like this.

Nice analogy. It has to be robust in order for such things to cascade and unravel like this in a realistic way. And that of course is no small feat for the devs. This is clearly a labor of love, and for that I am grateful as a player and eager to see where things lead.

You guys are killing me...I'm not really into naval warfare, especially modern stuff, but this one is really tempting...

Are you into air warfare? The game is as much about air as it is about salt.

Not really into air either, but I generally enjoy a good game.

You should come join our ranks comrade! Let the proletariat drive the tanks. Let the bourgeois sleep in the fields. The aristocracy of gaming is ships and planes!

I'm a former Army artillery officer and paratrooper and I love it.
Of course I did spend 29 years designing and testing nuclear submarines, but I started Army.
You'd have to try hard not to become addicted I think (just my personal opinion of course).

It's a sandbox. It's a sandbox with lots and lots and lots of toys to play with, and so many easy ways to play with them.

I haven't played it in a while until today. Kudos to the developers, as this has only gotten better. Much Better.[&o]

I understand your concern. One option is to get a really low limit credit card ($500-$1000) for on line purchases. That way, your exposure is limited. Alternatively, get a pre-paid card, and don't put much on it.

Also, Matrix accepts PayPal, so that is bit more secure method. You can open PayPal account, register your card there and your payments have extra layer of security. Of course, it is online too...but then, basically all purchases with card, even when handing it over in shop etc. are online...

I think if Matrixgames was unreliable you could find information about that in internet.
I do not know any other Place that you can buy this game, so everyone in this forum has bought it
from Matrixgames (correct me if i am wrong).
Maybe you are little over-cautious about using credit-card. I hope you buy this game.
Most games you get bored in couple of weeks or atleast months, but this one just keeps going
month after month.
