Terrain features

Is there any way to tell what terrain there is under a base? I'm thinking about defence arrangements and it would be useful if I could tell whether the geography helped. For example, the Marianas have three bases with potential Level 7 airfields. So the Allied player wouldn't mind which one he took, to use as a base to bomb Iwo Jima. If the attacker is indifferent between three options, the defender should seek to make the defence strength of each equivalent. So, if (as I understand from a thread about island attacks) one is mountainous, the defender would put heavier forces on the other one, which does not get the defensive bonus. But I can't tell what the terrain is, because it's hidden by the flag.

Hi,

If you press 1 you will get the terrain "code" displayed in each hex.

Tinian is Cc (Coastal clear) while Guam and Saipan are Cm (Coastal mountain).

The bad news is that I don't think there is any list of the codes and their meanings but it's not that difficult to guess based on the terrain types and what you can see.

Thanks. Now I just have to move the ships. (Because they block the little codes at the bottom of the hex.)
