I have an idea ok here it goes...
You build a castle and you start with <your name here> the king, and maybe 5 soldiers. You built you castle anyway u want wallls traps duengons and anything else. Theres money and rival castles witch try to take over your castle... THers farmers builders blacksmiths archers... and also may go into battle with other people and maybe over the internet! WIth senarios and quests... and stuff like that. (excuse me for my spelling >_<)
There i think that would be an awesome game!
~DM~
P.S. Tell me if someone else allready made a game like that...

This sounds a lot like the old SSI game "Stronghold," although it's pretty long in the tooth and would benefit from a thorough revision. It incorporates magic user units, too. I used to enjoy this back in my more foolish days (and maybe these days are even more foolish). If I remember right, you can download it for free from the Web site
www.the_underdogs.org.
I'll check on that to be sure.
{edit}
Yep, it's there, although the url I put in my earlier message doesn't work, apparently because there is supposed to be an underscore between "the" and "underdogs" that gets swallowed up in the underlining. While I was there I saw mention of what seems to be a 2001 version, but I am not familiar with that, and you know how it is when some fly-by-night companies get ahold of good old software...
I hope that this is helpful.

What you have in mind sounds an awful lot like Age of Empires 2:

I think it is perhaps fair to say Dragon Mage must have only recently discovered the turn based and probably RTS based gaming world only recently.
It almost sounds like Dragon Mage has never actually had access to a computer in some ways (or that is how it sounds).
If this is the case, welcome to the gaming world Dragon Mage.
I won't waste time trying to list every game out there that essentially involves starting with a castle and a few schmucks, and trying to conquer the opposition.
But I will mention my personal fav that has not been mentioned by the others here already.
Heroes of Might and Magic (currently enjoying sales as HOMM IV, complete with a recent expansion). A turn based game, where you must fulfill some manner of objective.
You compete against others or against the computer or against both in some cases.
Awesome visuals, and a great game over all.
It compares well with the inexpensive (as of now) Age of Wonders. I am not sure Age of Wonders II is necessarily a great enough improvement over Age of Wonders, to warrant rushing out and grabbing it up over Age of Wonders).
This game is a bit more wargamish perhaps. Simpler design, but not necessarily easier to win.
To get any more detailed though, you are reeeeeeeally going to have to shut off the computer, and call up your buddies to come over and play a paper and pencil rolegame I think. My vote would be for D&D3 for beginning players possibly (if fantasy setting is your target).

Since this is pretty much the formula for every RTS game I thought that Dragon_Mage was making a joke.

A better game would be a flight sim that moddelled all the planes in WW2,or even one that just did the rare ones.
I want to fly a german x-plane or a glostor meteor
